Contested checks how AI engines talk about your brand. This page says what we collect to do that and what we do with it.

What we collect

  • Your name, email address and profile photo if you sign in with Google, or your email address and a password if you sign up with email.
  • The brand details you enter: website, business model, market, aliases, competitors and the questions you approve.
  • The audits we run for you: the questions, the answers the AI engines gave, the scores and your reports.
  • Your plan and payment status. Payments are taken by our payment partner, which acts as the seller of record; it receives your card and billing details and we do not. We keep the plan you chose, its dates and the partner's reference numbers so we can switch your access on and off.

Contested Notes

If you ask for our Notes by email, we keep your email address, the time you asked, and anything you type into the optional “what should we investigate next?” box. We store a scrambled (hashed) version of your network address for a few hours' worth of sign-up limits, never the address itself. We email you once to confirm, and nothing else is sent until you click the link. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.

Notes are written from audits we run. They are anonymised and aggregated: they never name a brand, a website, or a customer's questions, answers or tickets.

Who can see your audits

The members of your workspace can see them. Our team can also open an audit when we need to, for example to fix a problem or help you with a report, and we record when that happens.

How we use it

To let you sign in, run audits, show and export your reports, manage sign-ups and prevent abuse and email you about your account. We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising. We also count, without any names, how often each kind of ticket in a report shows a result, so we can improve our estimates.

Who it is shared with

Only the services needed to run Contested: the AI and search providers that answer your audit questions (they receive the questions and your brand name, not your account details), our hosting and database providers, Google for sign-in, and our email provider for account emails.

Keeping and deleting

Reports stay in your account until you ask us to remove them. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.

This is a plain-language summary. If you have a question about your data, reply to any email from us.
